Training Phase
The field trip, data-gathering during that trip, the data analysis and setting of parameters, will have delivered sufficient material to commence the training. Before that happens, there will be a general call-out in the districts for potential participants to send in their applications for selections. It is an important phase as it simultaneously provides an opportunity for the final data gathering. During this process, the training manual shall be finely tuned, to respond directly to the quality of the application, which should provide the program implementers with data regarding real-world skill levels.
- Training materials development: The development of training materials is a critical aspect, encompassing multimedia modules, practical exercises, and case studies, all tailored to diverse learning styles and skill levels. The representation of content includes local case studies, integration of cultural context, and industry-relevant scenarios to make the training not only informative but also regionally pertinent.
- 80/20 Rule: Adherence to key training principles is fundamental, such as the 80/20 rule, focusing on the most critical multimedia production skills, experiential learning through hands-on activities, adaptability to regional feedback and industry trends, collaborative learning through group projects, and continuous assessment for progress tracking. The implementation of regional training involves collaboration with local educational institutions and organizations, ensuring that the training facilities are well equipped with the necessary tools for multimedia production.
- Preparation of trainers: Trainers, selected for their expertise and experience, undergo orientation on the customized curriculum, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and adaptability. Continuous professional development sessions are organised to keep trainers updated on the latest industry trends.
- Training: The most crucial part of the process, the raison d’etre, comes after much preparation, data gathering and coordination with partners.Page | 6 A curriculum drawn up during the preliminary process provides the backbone of the training. A module, drawn up and agreed upon by the partnership of HOT and UCC, guides how the training is delivered. The training, however, is also a learning moment for the overall exercise, given that new revelations and data will emerge as it progresses. Because of this, the approach to training will be refined as it progresses. This does not mean that value will be lost at the earlier stages. The data so gathered will go into designing the post-training program.
